The Desktop Manager will not download third party applications. I was just hung up on by a "Tier 3" (BlackBerry Specialist) AT&T rep. I had tried the recommendations here to fix the fact that I cannot download applications from the Desktop Manager to my BB device, with no luck. I called Tech Support, and they asked what I wanted to download from the Desktop Manager. I explained that I had tried to download the following: powerOne for Blackberry, the New York Times link, BeamBerry, MarketFilters Analysis, Google Maps, and WorldMate Live. I had to download each application directly from the BB Device. I explained that I read on these forums, that I needed to make sure that both Desktop Manager and Device are using the same OS. I explained that I installed the latest OS from the AT&T download website. When I plugged in the device to sync, it also updated the OS I installed onto the Desktop Mgr. Desktop Mgr was using: v4.2.2.14, Device was using: v4.2.2.170. AT&T's BB specialist told me that they are NOT supposed to use the same OS. This is the best part: The specialist told me that "All the applications that I need to used on the BB Curve 8310 were installed by the time I bought it, and I don't need to install anymore apps, and that AT&T will not support third party apps". And then he hung up on me. I was also told that the Application Downloader on the Desktop Mgr is for downloading the backup if the device goes bad. What am I doing wrong that I can't download applications from the Desktop Mgr? Thank You. Hope all are enjoying the holidays. [/SIZE]

I've only loaded a couple of third party apps. There was one that I was unable to load because it wasn't recognized by the desktop manager as an application. The DT manager gave me a message that the file was not recognized as an application. I don't know if it was a matter of just renaming it with another file extension or something else as simple. The ones that were, were listed in the applications list.

You can browse for an application. Have you tried using the manager to browse your computer for the app and selecting it manually?

I'm not a fan of AT&T but I work as a Technical Support Specialist in another industry. My customers are on their own when it comes to trying to use a third party application, that's just life (in the business I'm in anyway). I don't think that what he told you about you having everything you need already was a good answer. I would not have taken that well.

Thank you for the response. I have tried searching the pc for the specific app I was trying to download. No luck. If I want the app on the device, I have to use the device to download it, then back it up via Desktop Mgr. I was more upset about being hung up on. Thanks again.
