To clean it: http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...rackball-3243/

Also, just in case this is a software issue, before you do anything, try a battery pull with the device on.

Oh okay. Good luck!

Btw, I would recommend not actually taking the trackball mechanism apart. You can remove it from the device, but don't separate the ball from the little rolly things. It's incredibly difficult to put back together. I ended up having to buy a new trackball.

I found a video on YouTube that mentioned taking the Trackball mechanism and putting it in a cup of rubbing alcohol for a couple hours. Most of the other videos recommend cleaning it with a Q-Tip. Has anyone soaked the trackball in alcohol for that long? Any problems?

Trackballs are cheap, if your having issues replace it - problems can be solved quickly.

It also might just be dust under where the trackball sits. I would say try cleaning it before going to buy a new one.

Generally not a bad idea. Alcohol does tend to discolor plastic pieces over the long haul. I wonder if flat (tv) screen cleaner would be better. Any thoughts?
