We just got our daughter a Curve to upgrade her previous LG Muziq phone. Is there a way to completely disable the Camera? We don't let her take pictures with her phones so would like to completely disable that.

    Any help??

    TIA.

There is not any way to disable it that she could not easily re-enable. If your Curve is within your 30-day return period, and you are a CDMA user, you could exchange it for an 8830. The 8830 has no camera.

If returning the phone is not an option, you could always severely deface the lens with sandpaper. That would render the camera useless.

Why even get her a camera phone?

Aside from the 8830 which I have used in the past, it is tough to find any phone that doesn't have a camera on it.

another thought would be to swap phones and give your kid your 8830 and yourself a shiny new Curve

a nice drop of glue would work. kinda weird how one would not allow someone to take a picture using their phone though???? It is not like someone cannot receive a pic using a phone, unless of course you disable that feature also.

    C:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\8xxx....\java

Move the following two files from the folder

    net_rim_bb_camera.cod
    net_rim_bb_videorecorder.cod

Open DM, connect the phone, click Application Loader and next
your way through. DM will remove both files and the phone
will not be able to take pictures or record video

The technical question has been adequately answered. I just deleted the first of what will be a hundred parenting comments, so I am preemptively closing the thread.
