No will not, but you also run the risk of having your accout shut down for violation of TOS and getting a high data bill. Search around there is lots of info on this. Including those have have data bills for thousands of dollars.
The simple answer is yes you would unless you want to get a rather large bill. There are many horror stories on this site of people who tried to get "free" tethering and then received bills in excess of $1000 from overages and such. Do a quick search in the VZW forum and there are many posts regarding this. Hope that helps!
