There may be a few threads out there (as viewed), but I wanted to let people know a few things regarding T-mobile and email. If they are going to use another BB phone or change the one they currently have to another BB model, and still need to use BIS on T-mobile- then I found that one cannot use the "Setup Internet Email" app to add a POP3/IMAP mail account on the phone itself.

When running the app, I was getting "Error 502 Bad gateway" from the browser. I called CS and they said to re-load or upgrade to the next or current firmware, that something is not right, blah blah blah. So I upgraded the device (OTA to .182) which did nothing to solve the issue, except that the phone is now (more) current, and I didn't mind.

Nonetheless, the issue was resolved from finding a post in the BB forums (the link is "supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8300/How-to-setup-BIS-accounts/m-p/49729". You need to log into to your online account on T-mobile and go to https:// bis.t-mobile.com/html (remove space after https); select "Change device" under Settings, on the left-hand side. I noticed that the service books were merely transferred/updated and the mail account configuration changed from one device to the other via that web tool.

Needless to say, I mortally damaged my 9700 so I acquired a used but cheap 8310 which I had unlocked from AT&T to put to use on T-mo. At least I am still using a BB, albeit a few versions back in terms of software and hardware. The changes in evolution are obvious, but I still like the BB OS regardless and will get another 9700 soon.
