If you are running Desktop Manager v4.3 it looks like Outlook 2000 is no longer supported.
check this site:
h t t p ://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/req_4dot3.jsp
but basically it says:
"To run BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.3, you’ll need the following:
* An Internet/email-enabled computer
* One available USB or serial port
* The Microsoft Windows Operating System in one of these versions:
o With a USB port: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista™ including x64 bit support
o With a serial port: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista
* Optional Bluetooth connection on computer with Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher: See knowledge base article KB-04132 for a complete list of Bluetooth transceivers that are supported in Windows XP Service Pack 2
Organizer Support
* Lotus Notes 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 8.0
* MS Outlook 2002, 2003, 2007
* MS Outlook Express 6, Windows Contacts (Vista Address Book)
* Novell GroupWise 6.5, 7.0
* Yahoo! PIM"
That's a huge bummer.
Anyone know if it's worth trying to load the old Desktop Manager to get around this? I wouldnt want to downgrade the software on the Blackberry itself, but cant really see a downside to downgrading the PC software. Anyone know if that will work?
Answering my own question... I just deinstalled the 4.3 software, downloaded 4.2.2, and installed that instead. Seems to be working, knows how to Sync and backup my 4.3 OS device, and it talks to outlook 2000.
I bought a new Blackberry 8900, running os 4.6..., upgraded the desktop and it no longer would work with Outlook 2000. I had to uninstall and reinstal BB desktop 4.2... with service pack. Big waste of time, wish I hadn't upgraded the desktop.
Anyway, everything works now; Blackberry 8900 on 4.6.., BB desktop 4.2..., and Outlook 2000.
