When using most Windows devices on a usb cord, you should dismount the device before unplugging it from the computer. When I use the Rim Desktop Manager, I do not see anywhere for me to dismount/disconnect the device. I have been just unplugging it from the usb cord and nothing seems to be bothered. Is this OK or is their a dismount/disconnect button anywhere?

It's not necessary to use the safely remove hardware tool. You can just unplug your BB.

Another option is to use windows explorer. Right click on the removable drive that's your BB and select eject.
