CDMA, go to wikipedia... Lol you came here for an answer and I will give you one:
CDMA is part of the 3g family(so yes it is 3g and is really fast). CDMA is mainly used on Sprint, Metro PCS, Verizon Wireless, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile. All of these carriers offer Blackberries in 3g CDMA.
So yes the 8330 from Sprint is 3g... I recommend getting the 8330 from Boost Mobile if you plan on purchasing one from Sprint, Boost Mobile is prepaid Sprint(as well as Virgin Mobile with their 8530)

@chevyboy_253 Your location says Tacoma, WA. According to the Sprint coverage map, you're in a dodgy reception area. That's probably the cause of your phone's low speed.
How does Rev 0 and Rev A compare to 3G? My understanding is that Rev A is significantly faster. compare a Tour or Bold to the Curve and its a stark difference.

Rev 0 should be faster than Rev A unless I got it wrong.

The Tour and Bold have Rev A, the Curve (8330 and 8350) has Rev 0. They're all 3G, just different generations of 3G and the Bold and Tour have a faster connection speed than the Curve series.
1XEV on CDMA phones is the same as 3G on GSM phones.
I have 1XEV all the time and get 3to5 bars mosy of the time.. Opening MMS is fast, downloading ring tones is fast, but using the browser its slow. Idk if I'm just thinking it should be faster, on 3G how long should it take to open a normal page

That has less to do with 3G and more to do with the BlackBerry Browser and the 8330 having very little RAM. Rendering webpages is like night and day between my 8330 and my 9650 - the 8330 is just an all around slower device. Nothing wrong with the device, it's just slower.
I noticed you are running a 5.0 hybrid. That should be pretty fast, at least faster than the 4.5 OS browsers.
Doesn't sound right. Did your slowness start after downloading and installing a later version of the hybrid perhaps? If so, you should post your concerns/problems in their support forums to see if anyone else if having similar problems.
I don't really remember, this was a used phone I got maybe 3 days b4 I got the HyBrid OS on it...
But ill go see if anything is on there site. I believe its just as slow as it was b4, I've had a 8330 pretty much since they came out this one just seems slower

Yeah I know but I was just curious as to which is faster. Thanks
instead if this 1xve crap why doesn't the phone just say 3G?
I believe 3g is like a registered trademark or something, 1XEV is still 3g but without the 3g icon, why does it matter? All you gotta know it 1XEV full 3g data + voice etc. Then 1x is voice and SMS is only, its pretty simple to understand and the speeds are virtually the same.
