Can you send a text message while on a call? I thought I did it, but I've tried a few times now and get the red X. I changed the "profile" setting to "notify me of new messages" during a call. Does anyone know how to fix this so I can send text message during a call or is this just not possible?
yes, you can! i do it alot. however i have had complaints on the other end that they can hear me clicking my keys and trackball. they get annoyed that i'm not paying attention! ha

I think it's carrier-related. I've only heard Sprint customers complaining about this.
I hv vzw and sometimes I will get the red x another poster mentioned. I don't see it as often as I used to once I got the curve but on my 8830 it would x out often when sending on a call.

On CDMA nets, you can't email while on the phone, but texting works fine. I understand that 3G GSM will even allow browsing while on the phone. Don't have GSM, so don't know for sure.

You are correct. Any function which requires data will not work while in-call.
I called Sprint and anyone having this problem can call sprint BB technical support and the rep told me she made a few changes to my account and now it works!
