School Email

So I just got an new curve on Verizon wireless the other day, and I'm having a bit of trouble with my school email account (I set it up according to the Yale ITS website); its a yale.edu account (which runs on the pantheon server) I'm only receiving emails on my bberry after I open the mail program on my mac (which is set up as an IMAP). I'm also having a bit of trouble with facebook notifications, and I'm wondering if these might be related. Any tips?

I'm actually surprised they let you use the imap feature on your bb without it being on a BES because we have to pay here if we want that done so the non faculty physicians just forward their emails to a gmail acct and then download them on the BB. I dont use facebook so i'm not sure if it might be conflicting or not.
