I live in Brazil, working under Claro Brasil. I found an old 8310 lying around, and decided to mess with it. Cracked it, changed vendor code to 1, cleaned, etc. Wanting to switch providers without paying the costs of buying a new phone with PTT pre-installed (a selection of about 6 phones) on Nextel Brasil, I was wondering if I could manually install the PTT app to manually set my settings once I buy a SIM card, service, etc. Can I do this?
No, you cannot do this. The 8310 is a GSM network device, Nextel Brasil is an iDen network. The radio is incompatible. You'll need a device like the 8350i, 755i, etc.
