Is it possible to use a regular, cheap data plan for Blackberrys. I heard this will block you from using BB related applications and the browser. I'm using the opera browser anyway. If I could, that'd be great. Less money going into AT&T for data.

The specific browser you use doesn't matter if you don't have a connection to use it with. You paying for the wireless data, not the browser brand name.
You could go call ATT and ask if there is a pay per use data plan you could have instead.
