So I connected my bb to my PC and opened the Desktop manager for the first time since I created a password for my bb. Then I got a pop up message that had the Device USB pin # and a box for me to enter my password. The problem is that it keeps telling me that the password I was entering was incorrect. But it's not! I am sure that I am entering the correct password but it just wont work! So, I disconnected the bb from the PC and when I tried to enter my password (the correct password) it wouldn't work either. It keeps saying that the password is incorrect! And now I only 1 attempt left before the bb self reset and I WILL LOOSE ALL MY DATA! The password box even says to enter "Blackberry" in the password window but when I do it still says that the password is incorrect. Please help! I can't afford to loose all my data!
Pull the battery before you try again. Unfortunately there is no way around the password feature, so if you use all of your attempts it will wipe. I hope you did a backup recently. They should be done weekly or whenever you change something major.
Why would this f@#$% thing suddenly NOT take my 4 digit password(after plugging it to the PC) that I've been using for the past 2 weeks ???? Now after the whole thing resets I will be afraid to ever gain use a password for.
SUCCESS!!! On my very last attempt (#10) I got a message saying "enter the word blackberry" and I did, then I got a 2nd box to enter my password and it worked!
So, I had the same thing happen to me, and in the event anyone experiences this again (where your BB won't unlock after plugging it into a pc), keep this in mind -
If you have a numeric password, and your device no longer recognizes that password and is giving you letters as opposed to numbers, it is because it wants you to enter the alphabet sequence of those numbers...for example, if your password is 1234, and after plugging into a pc, that is not working and is giving you a letters first option, try inputting "wers" on a QWERTY keyboard and that should resolve the issue. 1234 = wers, 5678 = dfzx and so forth!
Thank you so much to the person who recommended typing the letters version of the numerical password into the pc's qwerty keyboard. It worked! So eg 3456 is typed rsdf into the pc.
Thank you
so use to just entering my passcode to unlock it, I didn't notice is said enter 'blackberry' to unlock and then let me put in my code. Glad this was here. .. Pete

Sometimes that shows up about try number five.... and folks miss it and keep trying their password.
