So new here and was wondering how sacred this is? I see some people have in signatures or what not and others you have to ask. How close do I need to guard this?

It just depends on how open you are to getting messages from people you don't know. I only give my pin to close friends and the Mod team. On the other hand, there are pin-sharing forums where people try to share with as wide a group as possible. Once you've posted it, people will have it forever. You can stop posting it, but you can't change it without changing devices.
JeffH is right on I hold mine close because you really can't change the PIN because it is specific to each individual device. Only share it with ppl you won't mind getting messeges from
