My 8330 keeps showing me an hourglass in the middle of the screen. It's been doing this for a few days now. I'm not sure what's keeping it so busy, but it's really starting to bother me. Anyone know what's up?

Have you done a battery pull? If not, try that first.

    Welcome to CrackBerry!!

Are you closing your apps properly when done using them?

Hit Menu > Close to close your apps, not the red 'End' button

I haven't really used many apps. I've been texting most of the time. I've used the browser a few times and that's about it.

And no, I haven't tried a battery pull. Do I just pull out the battery with the phone still on?

Yes pull it with the device on and reinsert after 30 seconds.

My phone just came back on by itself after I put the battery back in.

Yes it will reboot. Allow a couple of minutes for it to boot up.

It's booted back up and the hourglass still shows up intermittently.

I will and see if I can find a solution. I know I have seen this issue with your model before. There are many things it could be such as a software issue, 3rd party app, or even faulty device. If I find a anthing else, I will post back.

Thanks. I have only had the phone for about a week and it wasn't doing this last Tuesday when I first got my hands on it. It didn't start doing this until this past weekend.

Hmmm what's your file free? Do you have a memory card or are you saving pictures directly to your phone? Bcuz if you are you're using a lot of memory that won't come back with a batt pull and that will slow your BB down and that's when you'll see the hourglass showing up more. To see your file free go to options, status, file free.

It could be something else but its worth a try.

Here is a thread I found. Read post #13. You can always call your carrier for support if this does not help or uncomfortable doing this on your own. http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/bac...-issues-64986/

Display all the numbers that are there for us. That way we can make sure. With the 8330, I bet you have much more than 4.3MB available.

It might be worth noting when I woke up this morning, my phone had voice dialing open. I don't know why. It was frozen on 0%. It has done this twice to me now.

It's rather late. I'll have all evening tomorrow to play around with my phone. I have a two-hour drive tomorrow morning.

Do you have the Facebook app installed? I had the same problem and it was causing it. Uninstalled it and it went away.

That was one of the first applications I installed. I didn't start experiencing the problem until last Thursday or Friday.

I just did the restore method and I'm not seeing any pesky hourglass. Hopefully the problem is fixed for good.

I think this is what was causing the problem on mine. Hourglass would pop up every 3 seconds and had drained my battery halfway through the day. Just deleted facebook app and so far so good.

Ran into the same hour glass issue on 8320. I had way less memory left, but after deleting a theme from bplay and the TV Guide app it all seems to be working again.

I enjoy searching through the CB forums for tips and advice instead of contacting the carrier tech support because of the trouble shooting ideas that are offered on here as opposed to the wipe phone/replace option from the carrier.

    Thanks All!
