My 4.3 stock os opens pdf's in the received emails. I just click on open attachment.

My 8310 OS 4.2.2.170 opens PDF's judt fine using "open attachment".

The nuked 8300 I messed with recently (ie. reinstalled OS lol ) did not. I was still new to the game so I do not know if it was a version issue or a product of my very minimalistic re-install.

what about pdf files that you put onto the phone on like the media card or the device memory?

MobiPocket reader is free and it does support PDF documents stored on the media card.
