Pairing problems with the 8320 and Blueant headsets...HELP!
- I just got my nice shiny new Curve 8320 from T-Mobile. Unfortunately, I can't seem to pair my Blueant X3 Headset with it. I followed all the steps correctly for clearing the memory on the X3. The Curve recognizes it when it is in pairing mode as the X3 Headset. When I put in my password, it tells me it can't pair it. Now, it also does the same thing to my other Blueant headsets. I have tried different combinations of inputting the propper characters thinking maybe I was making a typographical error when entering the password. That didn't work either. My question is...is there something in the firmware that is keeping me from pairing this brand of headsets? I thought bluetooth headsets were pretty universal across the board. I called T-Mobile who then switched me to their Blackberry Tech Support, and they, too, were stunned. Should I keep on it, or should I just break down and buy another headset?12-02-07 03:31 PMLike 0
- I just purchased the Blueant Supertooth 3 and have been trying for the last 4 hours to pair it with my BB curve (8320) to little avail. It will pair for about 5 seconds, then automatically disconnect. The only solution I have found thus far is to turn off the mobile network AND the wifi (in manage connections). In fact, I could not even get the ST and the 8320 to pair at all until I disabled the mobile network and the wifi. Once I did that, it paired almost immediately and transferred my contacts without any problem. Then when I enabled the mobile network and/or the wifi, the connection failed. So, if i leave the mobile network and the wifi disabled, the ST 3 and the 8320 stayed paired, uninterrupted, without any problem. Enable either of them and no dice. I have researched the **** out of this and there is no solution for this problem. None. Good luck.
ADDENDUM: So after about 6 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with my phone or the Supertooth, I decided to try something I should have attempted much earlier: I snagged my wife's curve (exactly the same as mine) and tried pairing it with the Supertooth 3. Bingo. It paired-up almost immediately and did not lose the bluetooth connection. Our phones have the exact same operating system and both connect to our network at home wirelessly. Clearly, it was my phone. So, I took it to a Tmobile store today, spent some time on the phone with customer support discussing the issues, and answering questions. It is important to emphasize that I have NEVER been able to pair my 8320 with any bluetooth device. I always just assumed I was the other device, not my phone. Wrong. The wife's pairing with the Supertooth 3 explained a lot of things. Tmobile agreed and is sending me a new curve, which will arrive in 3 business days - I pay $20.
So, wyldchirico, I would take my phone back to tmoible if I were you and get them to send you another. Based on the wealth of postings on this and other sites regarding this very issue, it is clear that SOME curves have marked difficutly (i.e. defect(s)) when it comes to connecting or pairing with a bluetooth enabled device. Some work, some dont. Get another curve and see if that works. If not, then see if you can "barrow" someone else's phone with bluetooth and see if it can connect to the the X3 headseat. If so, you know its your phone.Last edited by jwigg; 01-01-09 at 11:59 PM.
