    My current model is:

    BlackBerry 8330m
    smartphone (CDMA)
    v4.5.0.131 (Platform 3.4.0.25)

And theres os 4.5.0.175 out there and it is available via wireless update on my phone. But i've been reading posts about loss of contacts, etc. So I was wondering If I should back up data beforehand? And really 2 hours? Was the phone in-operable during this time?

    First of all
backing up is always a good idea
I back up with both DM and BBsak
During the update the phone is literally
    INOPERABLE
you cant to anything with it other than entertain yourself by watching the screen
do it at night while you dont need it or something
if you update on computer its the same thing btw
about 30 minutes to input then an hour to install
i didnt lose anything but just to be cautious maybe you should

When I've upgraded my OS it's never taken over 30 minutes to completely finish, that's from hooking it up to DM, not OTA. Never tried it OTA

For some reason or another the Desktop manager will not update to Ver 5.0. Anyone else have this problem?
