I'm trying to upgrade my personal 8310 OS from 4.2.2.170 to 4.5.0.152 via the ATT page on Blackberry.com.

I downloaded the installer and run it, but receive the following error message while it's updating the component registration:

"Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\9597890E2DD669C449200DA0A6BE4F5 E\6FD0AC9706880864DBFF3D3EB4AA2944. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

    Any help would be great!!!

Uninstall it, and redownload again, see if you get the same error.

There is nothing to uninstall since it isn't in my DM or phone yet, but I'll redownload and let you know.

Sounds like you don't have admin rights to your computer.

I just checked my "User Accounts" and I'm a computer administrator.

Well, that eliminates the obvious problems. Try downloading and installing the latest ATT OS from the 8310 sticky thread.

I clicked on the link in the first post on that sticky thread and it led me to the same program I just downloaded.

I just googled that error, its a registry/hardware issue on your PC, take a look

Problem: Error 1402 is caused by missing system files or broken system registry structures. This is a critical sign of an unstable system that is typically caused by improper maintenance of the computer.

Gotcha. The package number is .152, OS is .110 which threw me off. Based on Rachel's post, you may want to run a registry cleaner on your PC.

Just for giggles, try logging in as Administrator and installing it.
