I have a verizon 8330. I first saw the 8330m os upgrade, but after reading it i noticed most verizon phones arent the multilanguage, or meid, that the ungrade was for. when the ein upgrade leaked, i downloaded and installed it, and havent had a problem.

i was then going through the sticky post for the upgrade link, and saw that someone posted that (after hitting alt+shift+h) it will show if you need the meid or the ein upgrade. well my phone apparently is meid (atleast it shows an meid number!).

should i just keep the ein .138 on my phone, or upgrade to the following???:

Newest 8330m OS: v4.5.0.138 (Multilanguage) MEID Devices

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Software For BlackBerry Curve (TM) 8330m smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v 4.5.0.205 (Multilanguage)

I would be sure to put the correct os to match the phone to be sure everything works right.

thats what im thinking. but on my "about" screen, it just says 8330. on my "Status" screen, it lists my MEID number. shouldnt my about screen say 8330m?

sorry to be a pain, but all this technological computer stuff isnt my area of expertise!

I have a better question for you both. Was your phone working fine before the upgrade? If so why change it? If it isn't broke fix it till it is?

well grandpa dan, my question was asked because i previously did an upgrade to FIX something with my phone. i then realized that i MIGHT have done the wrong upgrade, so i asked to be SAFE and see if it would be better to switch to the os upgrade which is the CORRECT upgrade.

so yes, every upgrade i have done, and every question i have asked in this post, was to actually FIX something

I've got the same issue. In the "About" screen it says 8300, but alt shift H reveals MEID numbers.

I installed the non M .138 OS and so far everything looks OK.

Options> Status> will show either ESN or MEID but not both.

yea same here...no problems. but im just wondering if it could cause problems down the road if we should have done the 8330m upgrade instead, ya know?

I don't even think it would have let you install the software on the phone if it wasn't the correct device.

yea i thought the same thing! my "about" screen just says 8330, but when i go to statue, it lists an MEID number.

any suggestions? should i stay with the .139 EIN upgrade, or go with the MEID upgrade??

Take your battery out and tell me what it says right above the bar code. There is nothing anywhere on my 8330 that says MEID.

    it says BlackBerry 8330.

the line right above the bar code says "MEID HEX: then a long number starting with an A

Then I'd say you have a MEID phone. Mine just has a ESN number. Might want to call your carrier just to confirm.
