I decided to upgrade my t-mobile 8320 to OS 4.5.0.46.
Everything started out okay, so I left it for about half an hour and then came back to check. The window on the pc installer side said there was an unspecified error, so I clicked on "Finish".
I then checked my BB and the screen looked okay, except that the signal strength says "OFF" and in status screen it says "radio off", with no option to turn it on. Also, it no longer communicates with desktop manager.
Everything else seems to function okay and all data are still there. The OS shows as the previous version .184 installed.
I tried taking the battery out, but that didn't make any difference. Anybody have any ideas on how I can restore?
Gulp!

The only thing you have to do is : (from the Home Screen)
Go to Manage Connections... check the boxes next to mobile network and WiFi!! You do not need to revert back to a diff OS or anything!
Also... you might wanna consider getting .52 because there were a lot more bugs in the OS 4.5.0.46 version you got. And follow these instructions to upgrade : http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/pro...grading-50325/
Thanks for the help. I have communication re-established.
Unfortunately, I still am not getting any communication with Desktop Manager when I plug into a usb port. The charge indicator comes on, but no communication. Consequently, I cannot change the OS.

1) make sure you deleted the vendor.xml file
2) use the connections options and try to point it to
USB-xxxxxxxx (the x's are your PIN number)
Amazing, I did both of those. The connection options detects detects the usb and pin correctly, but it still says "none" under device connected. Really strange.

Two things.
Restart your PC and perform a battery pull. See if those two help.
Open My Computer
C:/
Program files
Common files
Research in Motion folder
Apploader folder
Find the Vendor.xml file and delete it.
Then run Desktop Manager
Plug in your phone and it should find it as a new phone, ask if you want to load the new software, and viola', you have the new software.
