Ok, I just received my first Blackberry (Curve 8310 at&t) and I downloaded the new os to my computer and installed the software that came with my phone and then downloaded the new OS to my phone. I am sure I did a backup, and when it was finished downloading it said it couldn't complete installation and that there was a backup somewhere on my computer. I stupidly did not write any of these messages down thinking I would find it, but I can't. My phone is totally dead! Battery is fully charged.
Is there any hope for me?
Thank you both so much for your quick response. I am reinstalling my desktop manager because it kept saying there was an error and Windows needs to shut it down. I'll try the rest when I get it up and running.
By default, DM puts backups in your My Documents folder. If the backup was done as part of the upgrade process, and you did it today, it will be named "LoaderBackup-(2008-01-08).ipd"
Thanks Max69! I found it right where you said it would be. I called at&t for some help as well and they decided to send me a new phone.
I am going to go back to Backberry 101 and read as much as I can so I don't do this again.
Thanks for all your help everyone and I'm sure I'll be back with more stupid questions very soon!
Exelant!
I have my new phone and I have downloaded the new os to my computer and have also installed the desktop manager. When installing the desktop manager it ran into a problem with the Roxio thing and said .....oh I don't remember what it said, but I chose "ignore" over "cancel" and "retry" and it seemed to finish up nicely. The same thing happened when i did this yesterday, but I removed everything.
Anyway, I have been reading the tutorial on Backberry 101, but it said I should upgrade the software to 4.5, the newest version. When I checked the website there is also a 4.6 and 4.7. Should I do the 4.7?
Thanks so much for your help.
Thanks so much for the quick response sunkast!
It does say in the tutorial that I should also be running Desktop Manager 4.5, but I have 4.3 and the RIM website has 4.5, but it also has 4.6 and 4.7. I am not sure if I should do the 4.7 or just do 4.5 like the tutorial says. I don't want to crash my phone two days in a row.
I do have the 4.5 OS downloaded as well.
