Thank you. Yes, I'm aware of what a SIM is, but thank you.:-) What I didn't understand was how a SIM from a 5 year old dumb phone (no data) worked in a BB WITH data. I called AT&T. Had my Mom used just a little data (which is all you can do on Edge) AT&T wouldn't have even noticed. Still, I'm not interested in doing anything sneaky. I called them and asked if she could use the BB without data until I can locate a replacement phone for her. She's hard of hearing and has vision problems, so I have to personally try out the phones before I can buy one that will work. They were very kind. They said no problem and that if I decided to get her a smart phone for the larger screen, they would arrange for no data charges. At 84, my Mom doesn't do data. Really, they were very nice and quite helpful. I can't leave my Mom without a phone, so their willingness to help was a welcome thing to experience.
I'm going to check out the BB's and iPhones anyway to see if they're easy enough for her to use. It's all about screen size, keyboard size and volume/sound quality. I think they should design a phone for older folks to use. They're people too:-)
