MK, is it your apploader telling you it's an older version or is it the website? The way to do it is to make sure you have (he newest version of Desktop Manager. If you don't, go to the BlackBerry website and get a copy of 4.6 desktop software. Download and select the save option. Uninstall the version you have, then double click the new file to install it to your PC. Plug your berry in and go to backup restore to make a backup file of your berry and to test how well it works. Then unplug and close DM.
I'm on wap, so I can't see whet device you have, but find the link in the stickies for the 4.5 available for your device. Follow the link and select the right OS, download it, again, choose save and save the file to your desktop. Then double click it to install it to your berry. Now delete the vendor xlm file and follow the install directions at the link below. Take your time, get the right programs and don't unplug early and you'll be fine:

Exelant,
Yesterday I realized that I might need to change the desktop manager version. So deleted my 4.2, uploaded 4.6, followed the link and updated my BB OS. It works great, I'm really glad that now I can save voice notes (used it to record beginning of my fav song as a ringtone (i know, it's lame, but i'll find the way to do it better later)).
Thanks everyone for help, I would not have done that by myself

i just realized that after the 4.5 update the volume of my rings and notifications are significantly lower... damn that sucks but maybe they reduced the volume so the speaker wouldn't blow out like iphones. yeah that's it just... just gonna convince myself that.

You all have me really amped up about the upgrade so...
Can this upgrade be done on a BB that is on the BES or is this just for BIS folks?

I was looking around the Blackberry site today and saw that Desktop Manager 4.7 was available...cool. I downloaded it and installed it. Plugged in my BB and it said OS 4.5 was available so I clicked OK. Doesn't get any easier than that After that I realized it was also available through T-Mobile anyway.

This is a great thread. However, it's a long one. So I read the first two pages then the last three. So two questions:
1. does it matter if the downloaded upgrade is for roger wireless or vodafone australia?
2. My 8130 curve is on a BES and is from ATT. My IT group confirmed that we do not have a policy against upgrading our bb devices. Should i follow the steps on the first page of this thread to upgrade the device or should I uninstall my desktop manager version 4.3 and install 4.7 then do the upgrade?

I need major help. I just finished upgrading to v4.5 from v4.2. My carrier is ATT, but I used the upgrade from vodafone australia. Everything went well at first, then all of a sudden I get an "application error 523" and only option I have is to "reset". But it just keeps happening over and over again.
What can I do? Please help, anybody, ASAP. Thanks.

Problem solved: I started DM and plugged in my BB while having the error 523 on my BB screen, I then reinstalled v4.5 again and now everything is OK so far. Only thing I noticed was that my BB is a little slower than it used to be before I upgraded to v4.5. Its not media files hogging up memory because I save all my media files to the memory card. Could it be because I'm using the 4.5 OS which is really for Vodafone and not ATT? If not, What else can it be.
Thanks in advance!

| | T-Mobile 4.5.0.81 Upgrade Issues
Approx two weeks ago upgraded to T-mobile 4.5.0.81 . Been having problems since with calls. When in voice calls (only Voice calls) phone will go in reset mode(like taking battery out then replacing it back in) Spoke with T-Mobile and Blackberry in Canada. They have advised me they (Blackberry)are aware of the problem and working on a fix. My phone being replaced by T-Mobile.

I have also chosen to go ahead and install the Rogers software since it doesn't look like we will be seeing anything from AT&T anytime soon. Most of my 3rd party apps survived the upgrade and were re-installed with the new OS so my transition hasn't run into any problems so far. There are a few minor apps that I had to re-install and I'm still trying to figure out how to get some of my settings back to the way they were or as close as possible, but overall I would definitely recommend using the Roger's software instead of holding out for something from AT&T.
