One more quick thing I noticed. It doesn't seem to have the email upgrade (HTML) since I installed 4.5.0.81 and restored from my pearl info. Is there something I must do to enable it to work?

When I upgraded yesterday my BB Browser icon WAS missing, along with my calendar entries! *gasp*

I just let the phone sit for about 10-15 minutes after the new OS was installed and the icons adventually appeared....calendar contacts returned later as well. Was as if it had some sort of weird lag getting icons back up after the install. All running smooth as silk now and very stable.

same for me ... even after a battery pull my BBM and and Browser did not come back .. only after 10 or 15 mins they came back on their own...weird.

Although i love this version .. im downgrading to 4.5.0.55 ..

It seems my phone cant read arabic text with .81 im assuming because its not multilanguage??

v4.5.0.55 says its multilanguage .. do u think that will fix my problem?

I dont want to type in arabic .. only be able to read from text msgs.

I had the same problem. I wasn't sure if I had to enable something or not. Then Saturday night I got an email and it was in full html. I was shocked to see that so what I concluded was that any html emails prior to the upgrade would not view properly with the new OS but emails received after the upgrade would.

Let's try this again......Ok, here's my story. I have an 8320 from T-Mobile. I already upgraded from 4.2.2.18 to 4.5.0.55. I did not have an SD card installed at the time. The Desktop Manager that was installed came from the disc that was packaged with the phone. Now, I'm trying to go from 4.5.0.55 to 4.5.0.81 and I'm having some issues. I deleted the old OS using ADD/Remove programs and then downloaded the new 4.5.0.81 from the link on crackberry.com. I backed up my phone first and then when I go into app loader it asks me if I want to downgrade because the settings with the DM are older than what is on the phone, or something like that. My point is that the new OS is not popping up anywhere and I don't understand. Everything went well when I went from 4.2.2.18 to 4.5.0.55. It was step by step as the instructions on this site said. Now, I can't seem to get the 4.5.0.81 to load. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I must be missing something. Can some one help me?

^^ ok first delete the Vendor XML file. C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Applo ader. Then plug in device>Open DM>Help>About>Device Software Tab and what does it have listed?? If it's the correct OS then go ahead and install. If not, reboot the computer..

You can also try reinstalling OS 4.5.0.55 in windows. Then hook up your BB and start DM and see if it finds the upgrade.

It could be a mismatch of OS's.

Any OS will work, regardless of the carrier as long as it is for your device model. The OS is designed by RIM and distributed to the carrier's. It is up to them to test and release the updates, some are alot slower than other's and that is why I run different carrier's OS's...

I woulda answered quicker, I was talking to Benzworm on BBM. Yeah, RIM is sneaky but they are getting smarter since they started getting rid of preloaded walllpapers, languages, themes, etc. That's where we are getting the extra memory...

but now my browser is missing?! i've on this thread a couple of people got their browser missing as well .. how do i resolve this? tried battery pull lol

go to options/advanced options/host routing table/ hit the menu button then register now

This update destroyed 2 of my t-mobile SIM cards. Now when I pop it in, they both said "Insert SIM card", on a 1 month old phone. I'm going to check the cards with another phone tomorrow. Just a warning to all.
