i am a t-mo 8320 california, usa customer..
i updated the DM to 4.5,
backed up the curve, did not back up the 3rd party apps, i was only running 3, google maps, opera-mini, and a yahoo Go!

saved my pics and music to the laptop (actually moved the pics off, but kept the music where it was on the cuvre, just copied it to the lap)
loaded the 4.5 rel52 a37 voda OS on the laptop,
deleted the vendor file,
plugged in the curve and ran the DM, got the upgrade box pop-up
the DM did it's deal
and now i'm waiting with a box that sez, "connecting to device" and the progress bar has been running for about 10 minutes, it's about 25% along.
Curve is showing a white screen + hour glass.
no, i didnt wipe the device because i am a noob! and was worried that i would loose all my contact/addresses.
other than not wiping the device, can any let me know if i've made any mistakes and... do i need to log into t-mo and push my service books again or set up my yahoo push?
thanks again, you guys have been an incredible resource
you didnt do anything wrong installing an OS can take up to an hour... connecting to device seems to take the longest...find something else to pass the time instead of sitting there looking at it

I never ran the beta but just took the plunge on the .52 release and it seems to be running fine. I will put her through the paces and report back in the morning.

thanks giant!, ya i noticed that once it was done. all my contact info was fine, google was still there, opera mini was still there, and so was my yahoo icons.

hey, here is something wonky... it upgraded fine, icons look a little bigger than before, which is probably due to the default text size setting, no biggie... but, i was using the crackberry abuser theme before i did the upgrade. one thing that did change if anyone's using that theme was that abuser theme came with the fixed in place apps for your first 5, well one of those fixed 5 icons has disappeared. the second icon (from left to right ) is now a different app and invisible, i can see my wallpaper in that spot. when i click on it i get a header " FM's phone's contact list" followed by two lines, one says "current conversations" and the next one says "contacts (0/0)"
i've never seen this before on the 4.2 OS
i'm sure it's not a big deal. other than that, after i upgraded i got an e-mail/text from Rim letting me know i was registered on the bb network. i played with the video app, kinda groovy... and i read some mail that was already in my inbox. e-mail looks effen great!!! at this point, i have not made a call or sent out any texts.

I'm using the beta version of this OS. Did they fix the ringtone volume problem (ringtone volume is lower than it is on the 4.2 OS)?

I don't think that the volume issue has been fixed, at least from what I'm experiencing, its still pretty low.....
other than that everything else seems to be working smooth

what's different between this and the "beta" version?

is the system font included in this release? it wasn't in the beta and that's the only font i liked/used...

The only change over the beta I'm really looking for is the Ringtone Volume... If it's the same, I'm sticking with the beta cause I'm having no issues at all... I installed the "offical" on my computer, did my usual deleting of the Vendor, VAD, Fonts, and Themes, (Noticed the extras were missing here too like on the beta) and when I plugged in my Berry and went to the apploader, it didn't want to update anything... This leads me to believe it's exactly the same, but that's just my guess as of now... Anyone gone from the beta to the offical with any findings yet?
