After much reading of posts and thinking, I finally folded and upgraded to the new 4.5 OS. The transition was flawless and took me about 35 minutes! After all was said and done, all my books, apps, etc were intact and have been working for the past 24 hours with no glitches.

WAY TO GO RIM!

I absolutely LOVE the video recording feature (finally) and I am thinking about adding a GPS. But we'll see. My wife gets all my hand-me-downs, so she's always teasing me about when I'm gonna upgrade my BB to a newer model.

Can you say BB Bold, Thunder, etc?! I love my wife!

Checking your File Free in Options>Status. Your memory (free space) will decrease for no apparent reason.

*note* did a battery pull, will be properly closing apps, and monitoring all day. I've read some places that after a bat. bull on 4.5, no more leak. I've also read theories that google maps caused it for some peeps. So, I will check my mem today. If leak appears to persist, will remove GMM, and see if that is the cause.

Nonsense. Every time Microsoft releases a new version of Windows or Office, it's safe to say it will have a million bugs. I agree with the intent of your notes that warn people about being trailblazers, but when this release became "official" by the provider that released it, it became no more a Beta than any other "official release" software. Do you really believe that the TMO "even more official" version of 4.5 will be bug free? If you really want to protect people, suggest they wait until the "official release" of any software product is at least a year old before using it, which is precisely why I am still resisting using Vista and Office 2007.

Default Yes..Still there are bugs

8320, tMobile, Virginia

Installation when perfectly....

I'd like to say the OS is perfect, but it is not. The upgrade is worthwhile even with its hiccups.

* E-mail HTML integration does not work well

* The browser is far from perfect.
- Select doesn't work worth beans anymore.
- As far as I can tell, you can nolonger hide the browser; just move between applications

* Occasional issues that will lock the berry and require a batt pull.

Yes there are more minor quarks, but it is still worth the upgrade.

upgraded to 4.5 last night and it worked with some flaws.

My text messages all look the same now when viewing a conversation list, ie I can't tell which texts I sent and which ones I received, and they have a little black box next to each one which looks like it should be where the incoming or outgoing arrow is, but its only a black box.

Youtube does not work on wi-fi for me, but does work on EDGE/GSM?

When making calls my background reverts back to default blue instead of the call screen, not a big deal but it's something.

Video Camera is good

HTML email only worked after resending service books through my phone, then going to T-mobile.com and resending my service books there, 2-3 battery pulls, and selecting allow the HTML settings. It still only works half the time, as I have to select "get images" for it to show the full HTML email.
---

more to come later

Does anyone have anything to say about the camera? When I downloaded OS 4.5.0.37 I noticed a massive downgrade in camera quality. I just want to make sure that doesn't happen with this one. :[

My roommate has a 8320 on T-Mobile and just upgraded to this version the other night. Now he is experiencing a reboot anytime the BB is idle for around 20 minutes (according to him).

Any thoughts?

Just updated to the new OS only a few minutes ago and was checking to see if everything was all right, and just discovered that the video camera and the camera aren't clear. Nothing is blocking the camera at all.

I can't really describe how it looks, but when I capture a video or take a picture, the screen is green and stays that way even after saving.

Did I do something wrong?

Also, when I take pictures, they don't save. It's just a blank black screen with a red X in the top left hand corner.

Is there any way I can fix this? If not, is there a way to downgrade back? It's just frustrating because I use camera a lot and don't want this problem for forever.

Thanks in advance =)

So I took the whole morning to catch up on this thread and I'm just gettin to work after stealing breakfast from some hotel lol. See I do a lot on the go with the 8320 (don't we all?) And now everyones got me in the mood to upgrade my OS but I'm prone to messing things up so if anyone can send me a step by step to upgrade correctly. I installed DM 4.5 yesterday so I'm set with that but I won't get to use my pc for long cuz my moms friend is in town and she's in the guest/computer room and I'm dying for my counter strike fix lol but I'm more concerned for this upgrade. Feel free to send a PM or just post it up here in case other newbies like me need it

You might as well not waste your time installing .52 at this point... .55 is out and .58 is around the corner

Be patient and those will be available soon!

Thx for the heads up but I also just want to learn how to do it so when those updates come out I can do it myself rather than ask again.

I don't think T-mo is getting the BOLD. If they do, it will be quite awhile before they get it but I believe they are getting the Javelin instead.
