hi all, as a complete n00b to the world of BB phones, im trying to figure out the best way to upgrade my 8320....ORANGE UK to the latest firmware.

im guessing that the DM 4.6 version is the best to use..not 4.7?

gonna update to the newest version....4.5.0.174....thats it isnt it?
hope i can contribute a tad to the site once i get my phone sorted out...this BB stuff is alien to me, ive always used HTC phones.

The latest official OS for the 8320 is OS 4.5.0.124. The .174 you refer to is the Package that includes the OS.

The latest leaked OS is OS 4.5.0.153.

.153 is causing problems for me. How hard is it to downgrade back to .124?

Same as upgrading. Uninstall .153 from windows, reinstall .124 and go from there.

Mine took about an hour, no hiccups. But, Pandora, google maps, and yahoo messenger no longer function. I don't have a data plan, but those apps worked beforehand on .85

You need to go into Options and put TCP info back in if you don't have BIS/BES service. Without TCP settings these programs cannot connect to the internet. Without internet connectivity these programs cannot function.

I just performed the .153 upgrade and now whenever I restart my unit I have to reorder and hide icons. Is this normal? Is there a way to fix it?

Odd, since the status of icons is theme dependent.

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.
does that mean once connected go into program files etc etc, and run loader.exe from the folder directly?

coz ive got the 507......which changes to a 561?!?!?!?
