You are going to have to be a bit more specific than this.

My device and OS are 8310/4.5.0.124. I have wiped the handheld using jmider and installed version 4.5.0.124 after using Crackmem to change the options I desired. Everything loaded fine, re downloaded all of my ota apps and formatted my memory card. I entered the options menu from my homescreen using the trackball to navigate and a click of the ball to open the options pane (in searching for a clarification of the OS I had just loaded) I then used the trackball again to scroll up to the top of the list and highlight the "About" menu item. Upon clicking of the trackball, the "About" screen fails to show.

Or roughly summarized as the About screen on my device fails to show
8310/4.5.0.124

Not an issue for me just documenting it.

Did you remove Voice Activated Dialing. If you did About will not
work. Instead press and hold the ALT key and type EACE.

And I apologize, I read your original post quickly and missed
the About part.

Thank you! I did remove VAD no wonder.
I didn't have to be a troll, so you are of no fault or need to apologize

I did not upgrade using JL Commander, in my opinion using jl commander is for advanced people, you dont need to wipe your device for upgrade, just make a back up for data and app and run DM 4.6 (erase vendor file XML).

my suggestion is to re install OS again

I am an advanced user I was refering to the fact my about screen would not show but the problem has been addressed as happening due to the removal of VAD, voice activated dialing.

Bammeh you need to go install the blackberry drivers onto your PC which can be found at the same link on page one for the OS.

Also try following the steps to how to recover a nuked berry found in the 101 lectures forum.

I just updated to the previous "newest" OS, lol... is there any difference in these two, that would make me change it?

Well the wireless upgrade is for BES only. Its not available for BIS. I dont have wife on my 8310 so i wouldnt know anything about that. And ive always had a high free memory, so thats wasnt an issue either.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but--is there a way to upgrade your Blackberry OS if you have a Mac? It seems like the answer is no but I wanted to make sure. Could I just go to someone's house who has a pc and do it?
