i go to install the new os when i get an error that says that i will need to wireless activate my phone in order to use messaging and other blackberry features. i am using my dads old work phone with no data connection or anything and i downloaded the os from the rim website. if i continue with the install will it just lock out email(which i dont use) or will it essentially brick the phone?

I just upgrade my blackberry curve 8300 to 4.5 and now my phone would automatically shutdown and reboot in the middle of phone calls, web surfing, etc. Does anyone know why that is happening? I figure I would probably need to reinstall OS again but I don't know how to do that. Can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks!!!

Haven't been keeping up with the upgrades. I have version 4.2.2.170 but I am afraid to screw up on the upgrade. What are the advantages of the new 4.5 over the original os?

Yo this 4.5 crap is terrible..The internet is so slow its not even funny..I currently have verizon wireless..and I would love to know which genius said 5.0 was coming out on the forth of May because its a complete lie..And if it did come out..wheres the download link?..4.5 is terrible..and Verizon can shove it up there *** with there service...because they never come out with phone frequently..once every 2 years..horrible..Im almost thinking about going to At&t...Because I walk into verizon and ask them about the new blackberry niagra and there all clueless..everyone else knows about it but them..how stupid..

When you run the application loader in DM BrickBreaker and Docs2Go aren't in the applications list?

I haven't upgraded either, for the same reasons (Still using 4.2.2.170). Don't do that much on the internet, sometimes check weather and go to web sites like CNN or NASCAR. Should I upgrade? What about re-intializing? That's what I'm most afraid of screwing up.

If you follow the directions step for step it's hard to screw up

4.5 gives you an upgraded browser and media player, for some carriers it enables MMS and enables voice notes and video camera, it comes with Docs2Go standard edition and HTML email. It also speeds the phone up some and frees up some file free memory among other things. It is definitely worth the upgrade.

Default 8310 OS 4.5 installed can't run Synch

I just installed 4.5.0.110 (ATT) on my 8310 and when I run the Desktop manager (4.7), Configure Synchronization, it lets me run through the whole thing, says it's OK, and when I click Finish I get a pop-up box of Doom saying "Cannot Find System in Table File"

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Upgraded mine a while back. NIce added feather that was not included in my base load was the video recorder. Also, much improved graphics in email. I had some problems because I did the upgrade without first backing up, and so I lost my 3rd party apps. Had some serious problems getting Google maps re-loaded, but that was due to not having the default BB browser set as my default.

Overall a good upgrade & worth it if you've got the time to do it.
