Just installed it and got my first look. Options, Status reveals slightly more memory. More later if I find anything worth posting. I hope that I don't.

Life would be nice if the wireless upgrade actually worked.

Are you upgrading from 4.2 or 4.5?

Download the OS, get CrackMem from my signature. Get Desktop Manager and your are all set.

OTA upgrades are very recent for BlackBerrys. Downloading the OS is the usual way for us.

Read the 1st post and check out link that the OP gave.

If you have problems, come back here and someone will help you out although it would be better if you got to know your phone and CrackBerry a little better before you embark on the upgrade path. When you customize, things can and do go wrong.

Two weeks ago we loaded 4.5.0.81 on our AT&T-branded 8310s, and it has been a HUGE improvement over 4.2 in functionality (more readable fonts, HTML email, nicer gui for messages, calendar, addressbook, etc.).

Is there any value in going through this (the customizations for installed apps) again by updating to the AT&T release? Does anybody know the differences between .110 and .81?

Thus far the release seems very stable.
The page navigation and icon maneuvering seems to be very snappy.
Fonts are crisp and clear as with the other 4.5 upgrades I tried.

My initial File Free is better than the two other 4.5 versions that I tried,
.102 and .108 respectively.

I did use CrackMem (Thx Pete!) to pluck out the P.T.T and V.A.D that I have no use for.
I deleted the "Carrier Theme" as well as "Sample Video"
The 3rd party apps. installed are:
1) Google Maps
2) Chronograph
3) BB notepad
4) Bubble Popper
5) You-Version Bible (launcher)
6) Weather Channel (launcher)

I hope the intermittently inoperative Standby / Mute issue is gone, this will take a few days to verify.

All in All you gotta love 4.5.110 !

Just more bugs fixes but not too sure what was fixed. I would still upgrade to this version since At&t will not support you for techinical assistance if they find out that you are running .81 instead of .110

I can't answer your question from experience, as I never loaded .81.

Someone once indicated that "Bug Fixes" are initiated as the release numbers increase.
The same source wrote that release numbers in rapid succession indicate a rapid repair process ie,.81 .89 .99 .101 .

While that may not be a clear indication of a perfected OS, I have to believe it's accurate.

The "Value" of the upgrade is largely opinion and full of conjecture.
If .81 is working well for your setup, I'd be tempted to leave well enough alone.

I did'nt notice you were an at&t customer....might want to listen to Garz !!

So far all BlackBerry OS updates have been free and long may that continue.

The latest version released is 4.5.0.110. Anything else is fantasy.

To learn what OS 4.5.0.110 will do for you, you will need to read and search the forums cuz no one is going to write a list because we do not have one. However OS 4.5 is a great step forward in just about every part of the Blackberry OS.
