Just upgraded yesterday from my trusty Pearl 8130 to the Curve 8330 (couldn't wait forever for Sprint to come out with a new BB). My question is this, do I have to close apps everytime I exit to save memory? I had to manually exit each time on the Pearl and wondered if that was still necessary.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes you will still be closing apps the same way. The earl has 64mb memory and the curve has 96mb but it is still a good idea to practice the same things you were doing before.

Is there an application switcher like the Pearl? If so, I couldn't find it.

Hold the alt key and hit the back key and that will do it for you.

Thanks! that was what i was looking for.

One last question, what is optimal amount of free memory? I currently show 47-50. My pearl usually ran around 16-22.

That was fine on your pearl. Also great on your curve. Keep in mind the size difference in memory is 32 mb. When you start getting around 13mb is when your device will start running slow and possibly deleting messages. Take a look at the link in my signature for memory optimization for more info.

Your setup and menu are very similar, with some variations because you have a qwerty keyboard now.

You also have a 96Mb of ram vs 64 you had on the Pearl, so you will find that to be a nice touch.

If you like, you can change one of your side convenience keys to the App Switcher, and that makes multitasking even easier.

    Welcome to the Curve.
