Well you have a one year manufacture warranty...I suggest you use it. :-). It seems to be a factory defect

I know that blackberries have an auto on/off feature but since I never use it I forgot where you go to change it. I figured I would put this out there and someone can pick it up and explain the steps.

auto off is options, auto on/off but that is to set one off time and one on time. There is a one year warranty on the phone. If it just started I would see if she has loaded anything on it lately that may cause a problem. Pull the media card and see if it keeps happening without the card in. If it still happens you might try and remove the os and reinstall. Besure to back up data and 3rd party apps. After reinstall use phone without syncing and without card to see if it still happens.

I had one that shut down every once in a while and I think it was a hard ware issue...good luck.

if u feel its a battery issue then it shouldn't turn off while on charger ? ? ? If it does then I wouldn't think its the battery

Yes, first I would check the apps that are loaded, if there is anything that was added recently that could have caused it. Do you have an old backup? Try restoring from a point when this wasn't an issue.
Other than that I'd agree with PlunkingTom about maybe trying a new install of the OS.
Also if you think it is a battery issue, try to find someone with the same phone and swap batteries...but if it happens on the charger this seems unlikely.

I had the same issue the second day I got my bb 8330 curve. The issue was resolved after I deleted the 100 apps I downloaded the first night !
