Hello,

Purchased an extended life battery for my BB Curve 8300.

The old battery worked, but was just about dead; not holding charge.

When I install the new one, I get the battery icon with the red line through it. Is there anything I need to do to make it work with this extended life battery? It works fine when I put the old battery back in.

I confirmed that the battery I ordered is correct. It is for the Curve 8300; says C-S2 on the back.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Not to be stupid, but did you charge the new battery after you put it in your BB?

Yes, however in my experience a dead battery just shuts off the phone; it doesn't show the "no battery" symbol. I put in the battery and plug it in (not turning it on) and get that icon. Historically when replacing the battery, even if it is bone dead, the unit will still turn on when plugged into the wall.
