Should I go exchange it for another one? Or is this the norm?

All electronic devices don't play well with each other. Is it necessary for you to be near your router when you use the phone is really the question. And welcome to CB!

I haven't seen anything on this myself and I don't use my phone that close to my router, but if you think about it, your router transmitts just like your phone so maybe your getting a little RFI? Wish i could help more

I guess I'm being a little paranoid. The only reason why I'm using my phone right by the router is because the router is in my room, right next to my computer. So whenever I use my phone while sitting in front of the computer, my phone sounds staticky(?). Anyways, thanks for the comments.

It is called EMI electrical magnetic interference. Try changing the channel on your router.
