I've only had this phone (refurbished from AT&T) for about 3 weeks now and for the past 2 weeks, my phone will randomly turn off...whenever it feels like it. I have a memory card and have 24 mb left. I don't know what to do! Please help!

May I ask how in the world you are determining you have 24gb of memory?

Would you mind posting the actual number you see listed for File Free in Options/Status?

Hey amc31481. I'm no wiz and am quite new to this, but I found that it was my AT&T OS that was causing the problem. My phone would turn off randomly. I would be trying to make a call when all of a sudden it would reboot. Or maybe I was checking an email then it was just shut off.

OS 4.2.2.170 was not very stable. I've upgraded my OS a few times and all of the upgrades have solved the phone turning off problem. I'm currently on OS 4.5.0.44. Hope this helps.

I've been using the 4.2 OS since april no problems yet. I have currenty 16591016 file free. Top is 17 low before I reset is 10.

I'd try an upgrade and if that doesn't fix it then try for another phone.

    Good luck

Probably need to do a wipe and if that doesn't fix your problem reload the OS.

First, make a back up of your phone with desktop manager. Then got o Options > Security > General Settings. Press menu and wipe handheld. Wait and see if this fixes your problem. If it does, no need to reload the os.

I had the same problem with my 8300. All of a sudden, just started to turn off randomly throughout the day. And the only way to turn it back on was to plug it in to a charger (on button didn't do it). I tried a new battery thinking this was the problem, tried upgrading OS, both to no avail. I ended up buying the 8310. Was hoping I could hold out until the new Bold came out, but couldn't live with an unreliable phone (no landline) waiting for the Bold with an unknown release date.

i'm now having the same problem. sometimes it just locks up on its own, sometimes it reboots but most times i have to pull the battery to reset. shall i do a wipe as well? I've had my 8310 since November and can't believe its a battery thing by now. I'm running on 4.2.2.170

    I've had my blackberry curve 8310 for a year.. officially by tomorrow :}
but yeah starting last Friday, my blackberry would turn off, and would only turn on again after I take out and reinsert the battery about...5? 10? times.
    :[
It was at about 70%, but when it finally turned on again, it said it was at 20% -o-
It makes me really sad. I've grown so close to my phone..
I think it dies after someone uses it to call or if I use it "a lot"
cuz the other day this girl called her friend for 10 minutes.. and yesterday she took 10 minutes to text a LONG text to that same friend.. Both times my phone turned off. -o-
I've been bringing my old razr as a backup.. but I HATE THAT PHONE ! It's just as bad.
I don't know what's wrong.. I have OS Desktop 4.5 or whatever that new system is.. I have a memory card, with 96 MB left.. about 2-3 weeks ago I downloaded some games and 2 themes.. (I doubt that's what happened though) I'm clueless to what the problem would be D:
I haven't tried putting in a different battery, but I'm very worried. Any suggestions? I don't wanna buy a new phone, I don't work, and my parents aren't buying me a new phone because I have that 2 year contract with ATnT T-T
    -Besides a new battery.
    Please and thank you :]

Same here. Got refurbished 8310 Curve after mine had been stolen in December. I didn't have any trouble with the first one. I have tried many things: updated OS, removing memory card, making sure I have more than the required 12mb memory free. Nothing has helped. It will still randomly shut off/reboot when I am on a call, searching internet, playing music, etc.
