Okay, everyone, I need some advice!!

I am new to crackberry, so I apologize if I have missed an existing discussion on this topic:

My friend has an 8330 curve and is having major issues with his speaker.

When the phone rings, the ringtone is completely clear, and sounds great.... But, when he answers the call, the speaker is terribly muffled (for him to hear the person's voice on the other end of the line).... any idea why???

He is not using speakerphone.... this is the regular speaker (against his ear).

What's wrong??? and, what can he do to fix this???

    Thanks for your help!!!

Menu/Options/Phone Options/Enhanced Audio, enable Automatic Volume control. Boost treble for Phone call audio. You can also boost treble for the headset.

Thanks. The wrench was there, but there was no "phone options" in the list.... Oh well, I just got him to send it away for repair under warranty.... Thanks so much for your help, tho!!!!
