Most painless way to move to new identical device?
My 8330 is getting old (headphone jack is getting noisy, phone speaker is distorted (admittedly it's been dropped). New 8330s are so cheap ($40 on Amazon) that I decided to just buy another one because I don't feel like shopping, or worrying about how to configure a newer device, or whether my apps port to a newer O/S (are they available, do I have to pay again).
So when the new one comes, I'd ideally like to push a button, move everything over, generate and enter new license codes for my paid apps, and go on my way.
I know that the Blackberry manager has a way to do this, but if I remember correctly (Had to do this a couple of years ago when I had a warranty replacement), it doesn't do it very well. Lots of app config info gets lost, etc.
I'm wondering if anyone has written a really good "cloning" (in the legal sense of the word) app that would replicate the setup of blackberry 8330 A onto blackberry 8330B (license codes excepted).
Thanks!

I haven't heard of an app that does that exactly. I use the desktop manager to switch devices. I can transfer most of the information. I'm not sure if application data is transferred, but at least you won't have to reload download so many apps. Incidentally, I understand not wanting to get rid of your 8330. If you can get a replacement for $40, and the phpone works for you, I wouldn't change either.

You can use a combo of desktop manager and BB Protect, and also back up your bbm contacts in the app.

Thanks - BB Protect seems to have a "switch to a new device" function - wouldn't I use BB protect OR desktop manager? which is the better choice?
thanks!
