I think what you are saying is that you must have moved that icon off of your home screen which causes you to have to open up the apps folder to access it. If this is the case move the icon back and/or reset and/or pick a diff theme that will drop your mssg icon on your home screen.
That make sense or have I had too many beers today?
no lets try this: go to a messages folder
press menu > select options > general options >
scroll to SMS and Email Inboxes > set it to
Separate > save and exit. Now you should have
a SMS icon on your desktop

That certainly seems the easiest way........thanks....
when i go to messages then options and have sms and e mail as separate, i then have an icon in the applications file that says sms. if i make them combined, then i have no sms icon. So will all my messages go in the message folder now?
You can move you SMS icon around including out of the Applications folder. Highlight the SMS icon, press Menu - Move, then move it to the Up icon, and click the trackball. This will move the SMS icon out off your SMS icon out of the Applications folder and onto the Main screen.
Hope this helps.
