if so, on your main screen hit the blackberry button and click "Show ALL" .. make sure it's not hidden, if it is then just click the blackberry button on the icon and uncheck "hide" ..
if it's not showing up under show all, check on the home screen there should be an icon/folder for "Instant Messaging" .. open that to see if it is inside there..
It says it is installed and everything. Actually my phone even buzzes and my LED flashes to say i have a new message but the icon is just not there. Its not hidden and i dont have a folder that says instant messaging.
i'd say probably just try to reinstall it .. i'm kind of a newb sorry man, don't know what else to tell you. looks like i'm not wise enough for this question.
Same issue with me, I'm afraid. I have an 8330 running 4.5, and I copied the .cod files into the java directory and then the BlackBerryMessenger.alx file into the parent folder, in my case C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8330-v4.5.0.119_P3.2.0.55.
Desktop Manager says it has successfully updated the phone, and after reboot the BB shows BBM 5.0, but there's no icon, and I can't open it up anywhere.
If anyone figures out how to fix this, please post!
My Curve is 8320. When I clicked on to download, it took me to Megaupload website, I don't know what that is, not sure about this. Do I need this? I'm confused. Let me know.
So far no problems running on my Curve. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I downloaded the version for 4.5. I downloaded the zip file from MegaDownload. I extract the zip file. I plugged my Blackberry to my PC and ran Desktop Manager. While running Desktop Manager I chose Application Loader, and browsed to the location where the BlackBerryMessenger.alx file was located on my PC. It loaded the app on my Blackberry, it rebooted my Blackberry, then it let me know when the process was completed. I didn't need the files in the BBM_4.5.0 folder from the zip file. You only need those if you're having issues running Desktop Manager I believe.

This is the same process i did on my Tour and the same process i will do on my wife's curve when I get home.
Anyone with a sprint curve have any success. I am running 4.5.0.131 and when I load it in desktop I get the error that the program is not compatible with my device. I am running desktop 5.0 does anyone know if that makes a difference.
I opened the file, clicked on application loader in alx file, it won't let me open because it needs to open with something I don't know. How to do to that? I'm lost.
Okay so I finally got it work ha...
I deleted the BBM 5.0 files from my computer and then I ugraded my OS to the newest one on the crackberry forum (4.5.0.160 from Telus). I then went on a different computer (the one I have been using wouldn't allow me to add the file for BBM5 again). I then downloaded the BBM5 files and loaded them on using the Application Loader and it worked.
