I am wondering if I have a defective blackberry. I have tried to format several cards in it and none have worked. I used to be able to listen to music off of it but now the device won't even read the card. When I use my 2gb card, it says "format failed". When I use my 4gb card, it locks up when I try to format. Anyone else have this issue? I bought the service plan but don't want to use it if it is something simple.

If your BB is less than 12 mos old you can get it exchanged under warranty.

That's really odd. I would turn it in and get a new one if it's under warranty.
