I dont' believe that you can use any IM client without a data package. JiveTalk, Webmessenger and all of the other clients I have found require data.

Some of the carrier branded IM apps use SMS to deliver messages instead.

I thought verizon didnt offer mobile IM for the blackberry curve 8330. Please let me know where I can get it.

You can download Jivetalk or Mundu for mobile IM. It costs about $20.00 for Jivetalk. Just google it. You need to have a data package to use it though or you will get charged through the nose.
