Exclamation Keys/buttons do not work but can scroll. Already did "oven" trick...

On my Blackberry 8330 I can scroll (trackball works) but no keys/buttons work including using trackball to click/select/"enter" (that also does not work) - I already tried "oven trick" which worked for a bit (found that on Crackberry site - preheat oven to 200 degrees, turn off oven, put phone in without battery for 20 minutes, etc. to get rid of potential moisture problem which i think there may have been because it was in a humid setting for a couple hours yesterday and had moisture on it). The first time I did the oven trick, the keys worked again. That was last night. This morning same problem is back. Tried oven thing again, did not work this time.

I cannot wipe or do anything because once I scroll to an icon I cannot click on it to open anything on the menu and menu button does not even work. Any help would be much appreciated!

200 degF is far beyond the recommended storage temperature of a BlackBerry device, which is 32-104 degF.
This data is for the 9670, but I think the 8330 will be similar:
Quote:
Operating and storage temperatures
If you are not going to use the BlackBerry device for more than two weeks,
turn off the device power, remove the battery, and follow the operating and
storage temperatures listed in the following table:
Device operating 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C)
Device storage 50 to 86°F (10 to 30°C)
If you found that 200 degF oven recommendation on CrackBerry, I'm sorry. The normal recommendation for treating water damage is to seal the device in bag or bowl or dry rice for several days. Heating is not recommended.

Default Heating recommendation

Thank you for your reply. The 200 degrees is decreasing from when you put the phone in as the oven is off. It is similar to hair dryer/putting phone over heat vent, etc. I have had those things also work on other phones to fix similar issues. I am assuming the keys not working is a moisture issue, do you agree? And you say I should do this rice thing?? Thanks SO much!!

I updated my post with more current info. A hairdryer is not recommended either, as it can get too hot. You can still try the rice-bag technique, but after baking it at 200 deg, I'd say your device is probably well-done.

The hair dryer is not recommended either because it tends to push water further into your BB. Same with the heat vent (if it is from your dryer, you may be adding more moisture than you are removing). I thing the rice solution for several days is the safest method . . . if it's not too late.
