    Hi guys
I'm new to the cb site and just got my first bb. I tried searching for this but had no luck

Is there a faster way to lock your keypad without accessing the full menu?

You can set one of the side convenience keys to lock your keyboard.

If you turn off dialing from the home screen (press the green phone key/blackberry key/options/general options/ dial from home screen) you can press the "k" key and it will lock. There are also more shortcuts. To dial in that mode, you would have to press the green dial button first.

Or you can hold the mute buton at the top for a few seconds and the BB will go into standby. Just press the mute button again to exit standby mode.

I set my last home screen short cut to the lock app. So I just flick the trackball to the right and press it and it locks. really fast and don't have to use a conveniance key for it

I've been training myself to use the standby and I do find a difference in battery and how much easier it is to enable and disable.
