Just got my ATT 8310 last night. So far liking it still a few bugs to work out like profile and having vibrate on except for certain callers. But on to my question, it has the 4.2 os. All I have to do is get the 4.5 os and upgrade to get the video recording on the ATT 8310 and I can then use the flash light functionality?

You can also just hit the spacebar twice while in the video recorder. It only stays on for 20-30 seconds I believe so as not to waste away the battery.
And welcome to the crack!

Yesterday upgraded to OS 4.5. Reboots are faster and I have the flashlight. Just open the video recorder and hit space bar twice. I also under option turned light on Auto, so I dont have to hit space bar.
Did this last night just out of curiosity. Worked well. I usually just use the lit screen to navigate the stairs on the way to bed. The led is BRIGHT!!
Thanks.

I tried the flashlightpro program, but all it does is display a blank white screen, which helps a bit, but really isn't much better than displaying any other screen on the BB (calendar, messaging, etc.). Not worth taking up valuable memory on my phone.
It would be REALLY nice if this program fired up the LED light instead without having to start the video camera.
I simply did what keywest610 said (changed left convenience button to video camera), but I set my backlight to ALWAYS on...I wake up alot at night. I usually just use the light from the display to make my way around in the dark. Not no more! LOL
My phone is rarely out of a sleeve/case when not in use. The magnetic sleeve shuts the phone down and turns the light off. And I never have to start recording to use the light...just hit that left button and the light comes on!
