I just received a little globe looking icon in the top left corner of my BB that has a '1' next to it. What does this mean? It never made a sound when I received it. I cant get the damn thing to go away.
That is a browser notification. Means you were surfing the web, got out of coverage, and clicked 'yes' when asked if you wanted to (basically) save your spot.
As soon as your device got it's groove back, it sent you the notification.
If you click on your Messages icon, somewhere you should see a 'message' with that globe next to it (press the space bar to page down thru the messages...goes a little faster).
