- I have a BB Curve 8310 that's from AT&T but unlocked for T-Mobile. Everything is working fine, SMS, browser, Facebook, etc., but when I press the button for "Setup Internet E-Mail" I get:
HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway
The Gateway recieved an invalid repsonse from the server when attempting to fulfill your request.
In details it says "Unable to translate the given page bis.t-mobile.com/wap"
I have called T-Mobile and they pretty much told me that since the phone is not made for their service they can't help me fix it and I need to call BlackBerry, which you have to pay to speak to a person.
I don't know if this information is relavent, but my APN is set to epc.tmobile.com with the username and password fields blank.
Any help would be appreicated.

- Ok, so I'm new to the forum and I am answering my own question:
I followed the suggested steps above, but had to open the link (and change it to https) in the TZones browser, not the regular internet browser.
I also had to change these settings: Settings --> Options --> Advanced Options --> TCP
changed the apn to epc.tmobile.com
deleted username and password
Went to tZones, pulled up the link and changed to https, device auto-detected I was using a new BlackBerry and asked me to confirm my passwords for all my email accounts.

I had the same problem, kept getting the HTTP Error 502 thing. I'm so excited now to see what I can do with this BB Curve 8310. Got my email set up! Now maybe that darn error message will stop appearing when I try to do other things on here. Thank you again!! I love crackberry!07-23-11 03:29 PMLike 0
- I did what you said - changed TCP settings, used t-zones, pasted url from the details page, changed http to https - all GOOD!
and it said I could move my email accounts to this blackberry by supplying the passwords. I entered passwords and hit VALIDATE. It seemed like it was working.
But when I was done and clicked on "Close" I got this error:
The protocol specified is not supported by the handheld. Please try a different URL. (Followed by an OK button)
And I don't see any icons for my email accounts.
Since I don't see an icon for the email account I tried to add it again but it says:
This account has already been added to your BlackBerry Internet Service.
but no icon...08-18-11 09:54 AMLike 0 - I just wanted to add this information which I got from T-Mobile BlackBerry support and it fixed my email setup problems.
As mentioned I have an unsupported blackberry 8310 and I couldn't setup email without getting an error. It even got to the point where the email setup wizard on my phone thought the email accounts were setup but they weren't.
This is how I fixed the email setup on an unlocked BlackBerry 8310.
You fake out T-Mobile to think you have a supported blackberry. You need to use your PC to use My T-Mobile to fix it. When you log in to TMobile.com it may or may not show you the device you have. You'll specify that you have a blackberry 8800.
Log into tmobile.com
Click on "not your phone or device?" to change to specify another phone.
click Blackberry
click on the Blackberry 8800
click on Mobile Life (at top of page)
click on Communication Tools
click on Service Books (on left side)
click Send Service Books
- from here you may add email accounts or validate email accounts that are partially setup.
If prompted for your PIN and IMEI -
you can find your PIN and IMEI by going to home page on your phone.
click on Options (wrench)
Click on Status. Status page shows PIN and IMEI - enter them on the PC screen.leo59jacque likes this.09-03-11 10:47 AMLike 1 - Hi everyone, my work email account changed and I was unable to update my email account directly on my Blackberry; it still said the bad gateway error.
So, I did it via the Tmobile website as follows:
login to tmobile.com
click link to mobilelife (note: you must have a BB selected as your phone for this to show up; pick any BB even if it's not your exact model)
click link for email and text tools
takes you to https bis.t-mobile.com/html
use add new or edit
after making updates, send service books
presto! email works again.leo59jacque likes this.10-25-11 10:08 PMLike 1
