I called Verizon and they said I MUST have a data package on my Blackberry 8330 Curve! When I got the phone I was working and I did use the e-mail feature and occasionally the internet. But now that I'm not working I cannot justify paying $30/month for the data package and would like to be able to still use my Blackberry just for the phone and texting!!! Verizon said NO. Does anyone know if this can be done? If not, I have one expensive phone that I cannot use!

Sell the phone then... Verizon requires you have the data plan, no ifs ans or buts about it. There is a rumor that Verizon will be offering tiered data plans sometime soon. The rumored plan is $15 for 150mb, so if you're interested in that then keep the phone for a little more.

Theres no way to use the phone on Verizon without having a data plan as its required. Just sell the phone on craigslist and get a cheap old phone with a full qwerty.
