Hi,
shortly I should have a 8320. However it will be locked to the Orange UK network. How do I go about having it unlocked so I can use it on my T-Mobile contract in the UK?

Follow these instructions, and there are three very good reputable vendors listed here. It may take 8-15 days to get an unlock code for a UK device.

Thanks for the information. Does anybody know how these codes are generated, from the imei? I'm guessing not otherwise we'd all be doing it.
I'm intrigued to know what the approximate process is though?

I don't know what the math is or anything but yes, each code is based off of the IMEI and thus when you receive a code, it will only work with your phone

It is a database only a few vendors and carriers have access to... not generated on the spot but as I understand assigned uniquely to the IMEI. Like Linda said.

Thanks for the further info. I'm wondering why some carriers take longer than others to unlock?
For instance the gsmphonesource dot com quote 2 to 3 weeks for the Orange unlock I was hoping for.
