I have an 8320 with aim, opera, twitterberry, viigo, mobile checkbook and handango and I'm only at 21042010 bytes on my file free. Meanwhile a friend of mine with an 8330 has 21785650 bytes free and has a weather app, shozu, opera, twitter, myspace, facebook, starry night mobile, google maps and associated press news on his phone. I've taken out stock wallpapers, deleted voice dialing, done every step on the free up memory thing. What gives?

Umm ... the 8330 has more memory on board than the 8320? Is this a trick question?

That's what I figured but, I was just making sure. I've only had my phone for about a month and now that I've found the forums I'm slowly learning these things.

I only have QuickPull and Extra Light since I don't have the data plan yet. Once I get it I'll most likely get more apps.

It's not the quantity that matters it's the size.

Slacker is 1.3 MB's, and App world is abut 580K +/-. I've used a couple of animated themes that are over 1MB each. At those sizes it wont take much to fill up my file free.

I currently have opera mini, app world, weatherbug, wattpad, mahjong, tv guide, and wikipedia. I am not quite sure what my file free is off the top of my head. I am not running low yet though.

Ok, I'm very new to this, but do the memory cards not help? Or do the memory cards only add spave for music and pictures?

Music, pictures, ringtones and any other media. That's why RIM calls it a media card and not a memory card.

Soft reset is an app that allows you to ctrl + rt shft + del, which is a soft reset of your BB. I believe it was created for the Pearl, since you can do the key combination on that device.

CrackMem is very good at removing unwanted items contained in the OS package from your BB.

I don't remember which are carrier themes, since it's been so long since I had them on my BB. The guide link may identify them. Not sure about the second part of your question, but I believe you can remove carrier themes using the file free guide. The last 4 listed you have to use the file free guide.
